4neat looking large toy grade RC shipJul 06, 2009
By GROG "GROG"
I purchased one of these from another vender sometime ago. I was pleased by the level of detail. It is more toy like than the HT torpedo boat and Destroyer RC boats out there, but it still has impressive detail for a toy considering the size of the ship it appears to be modeled after. Some of the finer details break off easily but this does not affect the function of the boat. It looks very much like a Russian Kiev Class aircraft carrier ( or "aviation cruiser") in approximately 1/350 scale. After having it for a while I disassembled it and painted more to scale, it looks great as is, but with a nice semi-scale paint job it is even better.

I have lake tested this boat . It seems to list to the side with the super structure. After running in a pond I added some ballast to compensate. One thing to note: the battery is more difficult to get to than other similar boats. Hooking up the provided charger it is easy but using another faster charger or changing out the battery is not so easy.

It has a neat safety feature: the motors will not run unless the boat is in the water or with some other form of conductor touching both propeller shafts. The information on the box is not real clear about this feature.

For about $50.00 with shipping it is a pretty good buy, has excellent looks and good perfromance for a toy grade RC model (do not expect hobbie RC perfromance from a $50.00 toy). If you want long distance range, Long operating time, with scale speeds you are going to have to spend much more than the $50.00 or so that this unit costs.

For something smaller and cheaper the RC Warship Electric Boat with Battery and Charger, torpedo boat from Hobbytron is also very nice. Also the "Smasher" Destroyer modeled after a Russian Sovremenny Class DDG in 1/200 scale is very nice and priced similarly.

5Sweet ship!Jun 06, 2012
By KITT 10K
I got this ship only an hour before I had to leave for work but was EXTREMELY happy to see it does NOT run on the same frequency as the 31" R/C boat! It does lean a little to it's right side because of the superstructure's extra weight, (but that's probably the easiest thing to fix). (When I figure out the right amount of weight I'll post it here.) But till she has her "maiden voyage" I can't really get into many details on how it runs. When the "U.S.S. Challenger" has her maiden voyage I will write more on it. But so far I am VERY happy with it.

(Update as of 6/7/2012) Well I said yesterday about giving the "U.S.S. Challenger" her "maiden voyage" and that's what I did today. This ship performed EXTREMELY great! The lake I went to had choppy water and the ship handled the waves like they weren't there! I thought the ship had a list to it's right side but I noticed there are little vent like spots under the left side which I think let's a little water in to balance it out a little and the was no longer ANY kind of list. But as I said, the ship ran extremely well, (one motor seem to move faster than the other and it turns to one side but I can deal with it). But over all it is a great purchase and I will HIGHLY recommend this boat!

4Could be BetterJan 20, 2012
By FlyingLow
There is not an on off switch so you have to unscrew the battery compartment and unplug the battery every time you want to turn off the boat. There is not a way to change Freq which has been a problem when near other R/C boats. There is no rudder but there are 2 screws. In order to turn you have to use only one engine or put one FWD and one Reverse.

Overall the toy is fun to play with. It is very fast due to the twin screw design but does have a large turning radius due to not having a rudder. Perfect for use in our pool. It does take on water but has not capsized.

3Great but can't operate two at same timeJan 09, 2012
By Amazon Customer
These boats are realistic in appearance and amazing to use. The only problem is that the remote control operates on a single radio frequency without the ability to switch to another frequency. Which means that you cannot control two or more boats with their respective remote controls at the same time. (our boys use their boats in our swimming pool and they cannot operate them at the same time since one remote control will control both at the same time, making for crashes and problems)
